Last weekend we had the distinct privilege of presenting our Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar at the 140th South Dakota State Fire School. This was our 3rd consecutive year presenting at the school; the previous two years were our 8-hr Water Supply Officer Seminar. This year we "got outside" and spent time reviewing the best practice of hauling water with vehicles. We delivered two sessions of an 8-hr version of our normal, 2-day program. This format provided more opportunity for students to attend our program plus one other during the 2-day fire school. As in previous years, we had a great time at the fire school. It is a really well-run program - the Lake Area Technical College facility is awesome and the logistical support amazing. The folks in South Dakota are very fortunate to have access to this type of training - not many places in rural America have this type of opportunity....and for so many years running! The good news is we will be back in 2027 delivering our 8-hr seminar again...can't wait! Many thanks for the invite!
Efficient dump site operations was one of the key focal points of the seminar.
