What's on Your Tanker? #30 - New Vineyard, Maine - Tanker 1 (The Old One)

Looking through some photos from our 2008 rural water supply seminar in Franklin County, Maine we found some good one's of New Vineyard's old Tanker 1 (2300 gal)....a repurposed fuel truck. These type of tankers were not uncommon 20 years ago as departments worked to manage their own water hauling needs....these were often managed locally. Today, we see fewer and fewer of the "repurposed" rigs on the road hauling water....which is a probably a good thing given the safety and efficiency of the vehicles. But....they did serve their purpose and many a department improved their water hauling operations by using repurposed tank vehicles to haul water. New Vineyard now runs a 2013 tanker that carries 3000 gallons of water and is equipped with a 750 gpm pump.
