During our travels around the country, we always enjoy seeing FDs that "get it" when it comes to being prepared for water supply operations. One such FD is the Hammondville VFD located in DeKalb County, Alabama. Part of an effective tanker shuttle operation is the ability to load and offload tankers as quickly as possible. The folks at Hammondville have their tanker ready to go in terms of loading operations. Everything need to fill the rig is located on the rear, right where a fill site crew would need it. By carrying all the needed equipment and adaptors right where they might be needed saves time - and saving time means more water hauled. Good work guys!!!
Set-up for water hauling, this Hammondville tanker is well prepared to offload and load water.
This 4" Storz adaptor is standard hardware for direct fill lines on tankers throughout DeKalb County.
The second direct fill line is outfitted with a cam-lock adaptor to accommodate fill sites that might have to use a cam lock connection.
A short section of 4" hose plus several adaptors and appliances are stored in a tray on the rear of the tanker. These items provide all the needed tools and adaptors to manage loading operations - regardless of the pumper assigned to the site. All of this pre-planning and pre-cnnecting the equipment saves valuable time loading the tanker.
