While installing some dry hydrants in Columbia County, NY this past week we came across a nice, compact water supply pumper that we thought worthy of sharing. The rig is a 2000 Boise Mobile Equipment pumper built on a Ford 450 chassis with a Power Stroke diesel motor. The pumper has a Hale 750 gpm single stage pump and carries no water. It is set-up to go to a water source and supply water. It carries 2,000 ft of 5-inch hose and various adaptors and appliances to support a water supply operation.
We used the pumper to flow test the new DFHs that we installed. The pumper is a nice concept for departments with limited access response areas or for departments that cannot afford LDH for all of their pumpers.
Water Source Pumper 80-2 is operated by the Austerlitz VFC.
Water Source Pumper 80-2 carries 2,000 feet of 5-inch hose.
The pumper has a high-flow discharge capable of full capacity.
The pump panel is protected behind a roll-up door.
The crew from WSP 80-2 is shown here getting in position to flow test the new, bridge-mounted DFH.
