Dump Site Operations #40 - Make It Look Like This

Dump tank operations rely on the efficient use of water transfer devices. A common question during our seminars is about the recommended pressure for pumping jet siphons. There is no single answer, as it depends on the specific equipment used. The main objective is to use enough pressure to achieve an efficient flow, similar to what is shown in demonstration photos.

For jet siphons using a 6-inch suction hose, a pressure range between 90 psi and 125 psi usually produces the best results, although this can vary depending on the device. While these siphons could handle higher pressures, such as 200 psi, doing so provides little additional benefit and can reduce pump efficiency. To maintain effective operations without unnecessary strain on equipment, it is best to use the lowest pressure that still produces the desired water flow.
