September was a busy month for the dry fire hydrant installation program. On the 9th, an installation was completed in Richford, Vermont on East Richford Slide Road, a couple hundred feet from the Canadian border. The project received partial funding through the State's grant program. The site was a bridge over Lucas Brook, and the new bridge mount replaced a fixed-pipe installation that had become unusable due to sediment build-up and storm damage. The installation used an angle-mount design and included an ETT 6-inch NH female suction head, an ETT 6-inch Stream Strainer, and a Jericho Ice Breaker. Lift at the location was approximately 15 feet and water depth was 2 feet.
The Vermont Rural Fire Protection Program and the Richford Fire Department selected this upgrade to improve community access to fire protection water.
