What's On Your Tanker #62 - Direct Fill Inlet Pressures

When loading tankers, keep an eye out for warning placards regarding fill pressure limitation. While 100 psi is the generally excepted fill pressure limitation these days, that pressure still produces an incredible amount of water force entering the tank when you are loading using 4 or 5-inch LDH. In most instances, that pressure (100 psi) cannot even be attained at the pump panel because of the large tank opening. So....be careful on those fill pressures. And....if you are the person making the fill line connection, pay extra attention when a warning placard notes a maximum fill pressure less than 100 psi...like the 50 psi placard shown in the photo in this news story. Load fast....but gently!
