| On Sunday, November 2nd, about 35 folks from the Athens, Alabama region got together to haul water for 2-hour using tankers. The drill culminated our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar that was sponsored by the Alabama Fire College. Prior to the drill, students spent the weekend reviewing the best practices of hauling water with tankers and then had the opportunity to "put it all together" Sunday afternoon. The drill was held along the Tennessee River in Decatur, Alabama. Three pumpers, five tankers, and one fill site were used to support the operation. The first part of the drill focused on using the rural hitch to support the attack pumper. A peak flow of 1100 gpm was reached near the end of the operation. Many thanks to the Alabama Fire College for sponsoring the weekend. Instructors for the weekend were Mark Davis and Alan Butsch. |
