| During our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar in mid-July this year in Wheatland County, Alberta we came across W-58 from the Rockyford Fire Department. The rig is a 2022 Rosenbauer 4500 USG pumper/tender built on a Peterbilt 567 Tri-Drive and powered by a Cummins X15 605hp motor and an Allison 4500 EVS transmission. The pump is a Rosenbauer PTO-driven, NH 1250 gpm high-pressure pump with an accompanying Class A foam system. The rig also has front ground-sweep nozzles, a front bumper-mounted TFT turret, multiple pre-connected attack lines, and a 4-inch direct fill valve. W-58 served as the attack tender during our 2-hour drill and did a great job keeping water flowing to two, TFT Blitzfires and the rig's TFT bumper turret. At first glance, the rig looks big...and it is! But when your County is 1700 sq miles with just nine fire stations....help can be far away...so big might be what is needed sometimes. |
