Creativity in Iowa: Tanker Loading Station at Firehouse

During our seminar in Floyd County, Iowa we came across a creative design for a tanker loading system at the Rudd VFD. The loading system was designed to minimize the number of persons needed to load a rig while also making it available during frigid temps (like when we were there). While maybe not the perfect answer for every tanker coming back to the fire house for a load of water, the Rudd folks could certainly reload their tanker pretty fast and in their remote area that is important. The overhead loading concept is not uncommon in the agricultural community, we just have not seen it much at firehouse in our travels. Plenty of firehouses in rural America serve as a tanker resupply point; Rudd VFD's was a creative design that we wanted to share. We never gathered all the specific details of the design....sorry. So photos will have to work.
