We posted info in the past about the use of cam lock hose fittings on tanker fill lines. When filling with 2-1/2" or 3" hose lines the cam lock is our preferred "speed" connection because it is simple to use and is a locking connection. There really is nothing to get cross-threaded or misconnected...the female coupling fits overtop the male connection, the two ears (locking levers) are clamped down and you are ready to load that tanker. A couple notes about moving to cam locks as your connection of choice for 2-1/2" or 3" hose: 1) They come in different sizes, the 3-inch cam lock works best (even on 2-1/2" hose); 2) be sure the pressure rating exceeds your expected pressures; and 3) mount the male fitting on the tanker and attach the female fitting to the fill hose...way much easier to maneuver the lock levers. At our seminar in Tallapoosa County, Alabama...a whole bunch of tankers loaded using cam lock fittings and that made the operation very smooth....smooth is fast....and fast generally is efficient in hauling water. |
