Last weekend folks from Shelby County, Alabama and the surrounding area participated in our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar sponsored by Shelby County EMA and the Calera Fire Department. Saturday morning was spent reviewing the best practices of hauling water with tankers and then Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning were spent completing practical sessions on dump site and fill site operations. The weekend concluded with a 90-minute tanker shuttle exercise on Sunday afternoon where the folks worked together to run a tanker shuttle with the intent of providing an uninterrupted flow for the designated time period. Fill sites for the shuttle were two fire hydrants which simulated a "running back to town to get a load of water" scenario. Many thanks to the Calera Fire Department for their excellent logistical support. Instructors for the weekend were Mark Davis and Tim Legore.
