On October 10th, more than 70 folks from the Columbia County region of New York got together to haul water with tankers during our 2-hr rural water supply drill. The event culminated our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar that was sponsored by the Robert D. Plass Memorial Firematic Scholorship Fund and hosted by Stockport Volunteer Fire Co.1 in Stockport, NY. Eleven tankers and six engines were used to support the large-scale drill. Four fill sites....two each at a pond and the Hudson River...were used to supply water for the tankers. Travel distances for the fill sites were about 3-miles and 4-miles roundtrip. Because water flow was never once interrupted during the 2-hr time period and the flow was greater than 1000 gpm during the last hour, participants earned our 1000 GPM Club status. A peak flow of 1200 gpm was sustained during the drill.

Instructors for the weekend Mark Davis and Tim Legore. Many thanks to the men and women of the Stockport VFC #1 and the Ladies Auxiliary for the excellent logistical support and the delicious breakfast and lunch food! A full summary of the event will be posted on our website in a few weeks.
