We have taught a number of water supply programs in Alberta and have always enjoyed working with the folks up that way. It is always interesting this time of year to see fire fighting operations in places much colder than Maryland. We borrowed all of the photos from our photographer friend William Vavrek and we borrowed event details from his Facebook entry (thanks for sharing). Anyway...-23C at the time of the fire with 14 kmh winds making it a bit colder. Dump tank ops....no problem. Plenty of tenders hauling water. Good work folks....and great photos William!
Crews from Bezanson, Clairmont, Dunes and La Glace stations responded along with Sexsmith and Wembley to get the fire under control. Mutual aid was also requested from the City of Grande Prairie for one additional water tender. |
