A bunch of folks in Onondaga County, New York spent last weekend honing their rural water supply skills while attending our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar. The weekend program was sponsored by the County's Office of Emergency Management and was hosted by Chief Mike Stock and the Plainville VFD. As usual, Day Two of the seminar culminated with a 2-hr tanker shuttle operation. This time, the group decided to travel 30 miles away to an unfamiliar area to haul that water. The goal was to function as a Rural Water Supply Task Force that was deployed to assist on a major incident on the other side of the County. The crews did a great job of hauling water. A flow of 1,550 gpm was achieved during the last hour of the drill using a "single-lane" dump tank arrangement. Instructors for the weekend were Mark Davis and Alan Butsch. A full summary will be posted in a few weeks.
