During our March 2016, Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar in Summit Station, Pennsylvania we came across a "big water rig" from the Citizens Fire Company in Mahoney City. Engine 454 is set up to deliver multiple, large calibre fire streams from three different pre-piped master stream devices. The engine is a 2003 Pierce Lance pumper outfitted with a 2,000 gpm pump and a 450 hp motor.

Engine 454 carries 1,900 feet of 5-inch hose and five, pre connected attack lines. The most unique feature that we found is the three, pre-piped master stream devices. One on the front bumper, one in the traditional midship dunnage area, and one on the rear tailboard area. The master stream devices can be supplied by the pump or can be fed directly from another engine. If you take a look at the type of structures found in Mahoney City you will quickly see the advantage of being able to supply multiple master streams from one rig.

Engine 454 also has a Feecon around the pump foam system with 150 gallons of Class B foam.
