A BIG Tender from the Great White North!

Here are a few photos from one of our Members, Bert Baumgartner - in Manitoba, Canada. While traveling in Alberta, Bert came across a tractor-trailer style FD water tender in the Village of Lougheed. The tender belongs to the Lougheed VFD. No one was present at the fire hall at the time of Bert's visit - so information gathering was limited. It appears that the tender carries upwards of at least 6,000 US gallons of water and is probably equipped with some kind of small pump in the enclosed cabinet. The use of large, tractor-trailer FD tenders is generally limited to those areas where terrain permits their operation and where available water suplies are limited. The other important factor in the operation of these large tenders is the FD's ability to have qualified drivers of these big rigs.

Anyone with more info about the Lougheed VFD tender, feel free to email us at thebigcamel@gotbigwater.com. Many thanks to Mr. Baumgartner for sharing his photos.
