Last weekend, (April 12th & 13th) - the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Company (Maryland) hosted our 16-hr Rural Pump Operator Course. Participants spent the better part of two days learning about the parts of a fire pump, how a fire pump works, and of course, most of all - how to operate a fire pump. The program included practical skill activities on attack pumper, supply pumper, anrelay pumper operations as well as tanker shuttle operations. Additional emphasis was placed on operating from a "small town" municipal water system - such as the water supply system found in the Town of New Windsor. Instructors for the program were Alan Butsch and Chris Reilly.
