On Sunday, May 19th, crews from the Albion VFD and surrounding companies in Erie County (PA) and nearby Ohio refined their water hauling skills by participating in a 2-hour water supply drill as part of our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar. The drill was the culmination of the weekend and gave folks the opportunity to use best practices and their own equipment to support a 500 gpm flow uninterrupted for 2-hours. Five tankers and three engines were used to support the operation and a peak flow of 800 gpm was achieved during the last 30-minutes of the drill. The rigs hauling water did so over a 3-mile course at an old airport. Water supply for the drill was a large pond also located on the airport property.
