On May 20th, Shelby County EMA and the Alabama Fire College sponsored our 8-hr LDH/Relay Pumping Seminar. The seminar was conducted at the Pelham Civic Center in Pelham, Alabama. The morning hours were spent reviewing the basics of LDH, relay pumping, and drafting operations. The afternoon was spent examining the flow capabilities of a 2,200-ft hose lay of 5-inch LDH and the manner by which relay pumpers can be added to the operation. The outcome was quite impressive - most impressive was the ability to deliver more than 1,000 gpm using just a source pumper and an attack pumper.
